Couple Murdered In Cold Blood For Marrying Without Permission In Pakistan

Pakistani police said yesterday they have arrested ten people for killing a newly-wed couple who entered into a free-will marriage in the southern port city of Karachi.

Police officer Qasim Hameed said that Abdul Hadi, 24, and Hasina Bibi, 19, were killed by relatives last week for marrying without permission from their elders earlier this month. Qasim said Hadi’s father and nine other relatives were arrested after the couple’s bodies were found in a local graveyard on Sunday. He said Bibi’s father has absconded.

He added that the men confessed to murdering the couple with knives upon the orders of a “Jirga,” or tribal council, for dishonoring their Pashtun culture. Nearly 1,000 Pakistani women are killed by close relatives each year in so-called honor killings.

Radio Host Shot Dead During Hunting Expedition

An Ekiti  State  radio  host,  Abulganiyu Lawal, was, on Thursday, shot dead  during a  hunting expedition by unknown persons at Araromi-Oke in Ekiti East Local Government Are.

The 42-year  old, who was a member of Freelance and Independent Broadcasters Association of Nigeria (FIBAN), has since been buried  according to Islamic rites in his parents residence in Igbemo-Ekiti.


 It was gathered that the ugly incident occurred  in  Apepe  Farm Settlement in Araromi-Oke.A source close to the family of the deceased  said  Lawal, after  a meeting with his hunter-friends, decided to go into the forest to hunt and promised to return before 10pm. Relatives became worried when he didn’t  return  that  night  while his phone  also  failed to connect. His body was later discovered by villagers going to the farm on Friday morning.

The Public Relations Officer of Ekiti State Police Command, Alberto Adeyemi, confirmed the death  in  a text message.

Man Found Dead In Front Of Electronic Shop

A middle-aged man, identified simply as Taiwo, who was a security man at an electronic appliance retail shop, was found dead on Wednesday in front of the shop.

It was gathered that he slumped in front of the shop located on Oyemekun Road, Akure, the Ondo State capital.

Witnesses said the cause of the death had yet to be known at the time of filing this report, but it was gathered that his lifeless body was found in front of the shop by some workers of the retail shop, who resumed duty early.

One of the witnesses said, “The men of the state police command were invited to the scene, and the corpse was taken to a mortuary by the policemen.

“There was no sign that the man was killed because there was no gunshot injury or any mark on his body.”

A member of staff of the shop, who spoke on condition of anonymity, described the deceased as an active person, saying he did not show any sign of illness before the close of work on Tuesday.

“He was our security man in this office. We were together yesterday (Tuesday) before we departed for our different homes after work. He was lively and agile and had shown no sign of sickness yesterday (Tuesday).

“However, when we resumed for work this morning (Wednesday), we found his body on the ground. It is unfortunate,” he said.

The Police Public Relations Officer for the state police command, Mr. Femi Joseph, said the command had begun investigation into the matter to unravel the cause of the death.

He stated that the command had yet to arrest anybody in connection with the incident, adding that some workers of the shop had been invited.

“There is nothing yet to show that the man was killed.

“However, the  Ondo State Police Command has  started investigation into the matter,” Joseph said.

Badoo Members Kill Woman And Her Two Children In Renewed Attacks

A woman and her two children have allegedly killed by suspected Badoo ritual cult gang members in Lagos in a renewed attack.

After a few months of going underground, the deadly Badoo ritual cult gang has come back in full force after they attacked a church located at Temu village in the Ikosi-Ejirin Local Council Development Area, Epe, Lagos State.

According to Punch reports, the gang struck in the early hours of Tuesday, November 21, 2017, and left its trademark of blood, tears, and sorrow with the killing of a woman and her two children.

The victims who identified as Mrs. Iyabo, David, a four-year-old boy and his eight-year-old sister, Rachael, were reportedly killed around 2 am while they were asleep at a Celestial Church of Christ parish which also serves as their residence.

It was also gathered that the assailants had scaled the fence of the church to gain entry and thereafter used a grinding stone to hit the heads of their targets after which theywiped the blood and brain membranes and escaped.

30 Persons Dies Following Suicide Attack Carried Out By Teenagers

At least 30 persons in Mubi Adamawa State have lost their lives following a suicide attack carried out by a yet to be identified teenager.

The Adamawa police spokesman, Othman Abubakar, who confirmed the incident, said more than 30 persons lost their lives in the dawn Mosque attack. “We were made to understand that there was a bomb blast at a mosque in Mubi and over 30 lives were lost.

 A boy about 17-year-old wearing a suicide vest entered the mosque along with other worshippers. Immediately after the prayers, he detonated the bomb.


Many of the wounded are receiving treatment at various hospitals in Mubi North where the attacks occurred around Kunu Araha area” he said. He noted that several other persons wounded in the attacks are receiving medical attention at various medical hospitals in Mubi Town.

 However, emergency aid workers and other first responders put the death toll in the attack at 40. An official working with the International Rescue Committee, Emma Adasolid, among the first responders at the scene said about 40 dead bodies were evacuated.

   Reports also estimated that at least 50 people may have died in the attack. Asked who was responsible, Abubakar in an AFP report said,  “We all know the trend. We don’t suspect anyone specifically but we know those behind such kind of attacks.” The attack bore all the hallmarks of Boko Haram, the Islamist militants whose insurgency has left at least 20,000 people dead and more than 2.6 million others homeless since 2009. Haruna Furo, head of the Adamawa state emergency management agency, and Musa Hamad Bello, chairman of the Mubi north local government area, both confirmed the attack. They gave lower death tolls but both said the number of those killed was likely to rise. Another emergency services official described the blast as “devastating”.

He said only that there were “high casualties”. – Roof blown off – Abubakar Sule, who lives near the mosque, said he had just returned home when he heard the blast. “I was there when the rescue was on and 40 people died on the spot and several others were taken to hospital with severe and life-threatening injuries,” he added. “The roof was blown off. People near the mosque said the prayer was mid-way when the bomber, who was obviously in the congregation, detonated his explosives. “This is obviously the work of Boko Haram.” Boko Haram briefly overran Mubi in late 2014 as its fighters rampaged across northeastern Nigeria, seizing towns and villages in its quest to establish a hardline Islamic state. The town’s name was changed temporarily to Madinatul Islam, or “City of Islam” in Arabic, during the Boko Haram occupation. But it has been peaceful since the military and the civilian militia ousted them from the town, which is a commercial hub and home to the Adamawa State University. In recent months, Boko Haram activity has been concentrated on the far north of Adamawa state, around Madagali, which is near the border with neighbouring Borno state. Earlier this month, at least two civilians were killed when dozens of Boko Haram fighters tried to storm the town of Gulak but were repelled by soldiers.

There have been repeated suicide bombings in the area, which lies not far from the Sambisa Forest area of Borno, where the militants had a base.

Former PDP Chairman's son Stabbed To Death By wife

Reports have it that Bilyamin Muhammed Bello, son of a former PDP chairman, Haliru Bello, has been murdered.

The deceased was allegedly murdered by his wife last night. His wife, Maryam Sanda, daughter of embattled former Aso Savings boss, Hajia Maimuna Aliyu, is said to have stabbed him to death.

Maryam, allegedly stabbed her husband following claims of him cheating on her. She reprotedly stabbed him 3 times in the back; and severally on his private parts, at their home in Maitama, Abuja.

Part of his ear, was also bitten off before the knife attack and Bilyaminu was said to have been treated at a hospital before returning home.

People advised that he leaves the house but he refused. Maryam allegedly drove him to the hospital after stabbing him but he later gave up the ghost.

The couple had a child together. Bilyaminu will be buried today.

Nigeria's Former vice-President Dies - BREAKING!!!

 Former Vice President of Nigeria, Dr Alex Ifeanyichukwu Ekwueme is dead. A statement from his family signed by his brother and the traditional ruler of Oko in Anambra State, Igwe Laz Ekwueme said that he died by 10:00pm in a London clinic, Sunday.

 The statement read: “Ekwueme family regrets to announce the peaceful passing away of their patriarch, the former Vice-President of the Federal Republic of Nigeria Dr Alex Ifeanyichukwu Ekwueme GCON. “The sad event occurred at the London Clinic at 10:00 pm on Sunday 19th November 2017.” Ekwueme had slumped in his Enugu residence, and immediately taken to the Memfys Neurosurgery Hospital Enugu,



 where he relapsed and went into coma. As soon as he was stabilised in the hospital he was flown to London in an air ambulance last week.

Festival of Death As Twin Accidents Occur In Lagos And Ogun State

 Yesterday was more of a festival of disaster cum blood bath in Lagos and Ogun states following two separate accidents involving a train, trucks, buses and cars, which claimed nine lives, leaving several others wounded In Lagos.

our correspondent learnt, a train rammed unto a truck whose driver was said to be trying to make a U-turn on the railway track around Fagba-Ojurin Ifako-Ijaye Abattoir area, while the multiple road accident occurred on the popular Kara Bridge along Lagos-Ibadan Expressway, Ogun State.

 General manager of the Lagos State Emergency Management Agency (LASEMA), Mr. Adesina Tiamiyu, disclosed that his agency received an emergency call at about 7am through its emergency toll-free number, 767, and promptly responded to the information that a road accident involving a number of vehicles had occurred on the Kara Bridge on the Lagos-Ibadan Expressway.

He said that his men immediately mobilised to the scene, where they joined officials of the  Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC), who were already on hand to rescues survivors and evacuate the dead. Tiamiyu said that, according an eyewitness, the accident happened at about 6am, leading to five casualties, while 19 people sustained various degrees of injury. He noted that the survivors consisted of 11 adult males and eight females. The crash led to a gridlock on the busy highway and subsequently grounded economic activities for hours as both sides of the dual carriageway were locked down.


 Tiamiyu hinted our correspondent that, despite the fact that the disaster occurred outside his agency’s area of jurisdiction, it swiftly deployed its operatives and equipment to the scene and assisted in clearing the affected vehicles to pave way for free flow of traffic. He said: “When the response unit arrived the scene of the incident, it discovered that the multiple accident involved 15 vehicles consisting of seven trucks, a pick-up van, three cars and buses. “The vehicles consisted of a Man Diesel truck with registration number JJJ 342 XD (Lagos), two DAF trucks with registration number APP 769 XR (Lagos) and GGE 818 XC ( Lagos), while the third had an unknown registration number. Also involved in the crash were two Sino trucks with registration numbers KRD 122 XC (Lagos), KRD 123 XC (Lagos) and a Mack truck with registration number BDG 561 XG (Lagos).



Others were a Nissan Cabster car with registration XS 216 KSF (Lagos) and two Honda Accord cars with registration numbers MUS 411 DG (Lagos) and APP 303 DV (Lagos). “There were also a Lexus Jeep with registration number FKJ 475 BR (Lagos), a Volkswagen Kombi (Danfo) with registration number  KTU 594 XM (Lagos), a Ford bus with registration number KTU 340 XU (Lagos), a Mazda bus with registration number AKD 520 XW (Lagos) and a Nissan bus with registration number BDG 27 AA (Lagos).” Tiamiyu stated that the cause of the multiple-car accident was yet to be ascertained.

Jamaican Musician Donates Borehole To Nigeria Army

The military/civil friendship got a boost in Lagos last week as the Ikeja Cantonment commissioned a water borehole donated to the military formation by a Jamaica-based Nigerian musician, Chibike Eze Vincent, popularly known by his stage name, Movement Smiling.

 The water project is meant to serve the office of the Explosive Ordinance Disposal (EOD) of the base and the environs as a way of facilitating adequate water supply to the facility and making its services more adequate.



The commissioning handled by the Acting Corps Commander, Nigerian Army Ordinance, Brig. Gen. JI Unuigbe also featured the presentation of the refurbished EOD vehicle at the Ammunition Transit Depot (ATD) On hand for the event were Brig. Ben. BE Onyeuko who represented Unuigbe and Major NA Uduma of the same command who all appreciated the musician, Vincent, for his friendship and generosity as he cut the tape to open the facility.


 At the event, the military expressed appreciation to the musician and said it was a sign of better understanding and working relationship between the military and the civil society.

Delta State Sachet Water Vendor Dies During Intercourse with Prostitutes In Bayelsa

 It was a cascade of dramatic entertainment and panic as residents of Amassoma in Southern Ijaw LGA of Bayelsa state greeted the news of the death of a certain pure water vendor from delta state while having sex with Prostitutes.

Former President Goodluck Jonathan on Wednesday doused speculations and rumours about a political rift between him and Governor Seriake Dickson of Bayelsa State. The former President who disassociated himself from the insinuations made in the media said that he was too close to Dickson to nurture political differences against him.

Jonathan made the clarification, during a condolence visit by Dickson in his Otuoke home to commiserate with him on the death of the Paramount Ruler of Otuoke Community, HRH King Lot Justin Ogiasa.

Jonathan said, “Let me on behalf of the community thank you for making the visit, because of the relationship we have. You wanted to come immediately, but said it would be waste for the governor to come when the date for the burial has not been announced. “For me politics is a very useless business; when I see the kind of things people write about me on the social media, I just laugh. For Bayelsa State, I feel sad because we are not many and we are not heterogeneous. It is a state that we also know ourselves. “I have no reason to say that I am competing with the governor; by the grace of God, I became Deputy Governor, Governor and President. There is no way I can sit anywhere and plan anything against Bayelsa state or the governor. “When I was dreaming of becoming Governor, Dickson was among the few in the meetings we were holding. He was not in the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), but he agreed to help it. He didn’t want to join the PDP, but I virtually forced him. “When I became Governor, I appointed Dickson Attorney-General and Commissioner for Justice and that was how he became a PDP member and later became a member of the House of Representatives and so on…There is no way I will break my relationship with the Governor.” The Governor who led a high-powered state delegation for the condolence said he was part of the Ogiasa family and by extension, the Otuoke community of Ogbia Local Government Area. “We are here in full force as we have always done to commiserate with you, my elder brother, leader and the Ogiasa family in this hour of bereavement. We pray God to grant the Ogiasa eternal repose”, Dickson said. While dispelling rumour of any rift with the former president, the governor said in and out of office, Jonathan would continue to remain his leader, having come a long way with him.

He therefore called on those who want to cause imaginary differences between him and Jonathan to sink their plans. “Both of us have come a long way. My personal political story cannot be complete without talking about my elder brother, Jonathan. He also knows that I made little contribution that is recorded in the political chapter of his life.”, the governor emphasised.

Governor Dickson said both he and Jonathan were not running for any office and wondered why “political jobbers” were bent on destroying their good relationship.

Xenophobia Attack In South Africa

Sorrow filled Nigerians in South Africa has verified the malicious killing of two members in the country within 2 days, hardly a month after jacob Zuma the president of South Africa was honoured by the Imo state Government.

 In October, a Nigerian man was shot dead in South Africa over an alleged 300 Rand (about N7,500) parking lot debt.

Not less than  116 Nigerians have been murdered in the country through xenophobic means in the last two years, according to Special Assistant to the President on Foreign Affairs and Diaspora, Mrs. Abike Dabiri-Erewa.

A reliable source close to the Nigerian community disclosed the news to news agency of Nigeria on Tuesday that the first victim, Ikechukwu Mmanwoke Edmond, 40, was killed on Nov. 11.

The informant  said the deceased, a businessman and native of Ihembosi, Ekwusigo Local Government Area of Anambra, was  assassinated in front of his house on Amant Street, Malvern, Johannesburg. he said a neighbour and eyewitness of Ikechukwu, Sibongile as saying that six men came to their house and started breaking doors and taking out their personal effects.

When she (Sibongile ) raised alarm, they started beating her. When Ikechukwu came in and saw what was happening, he brought out his phone to call the police.

“A member of the gang took a brick and hit him in the face and he fell down. When the police arrived, he was already dead,” the source told NAN.

According to the informant, police said they have commenced “investigation’’ into the death of the businessman.

The second victim, Eluka Agu, native of Ihiala also from Anambra, was allegedly robbed and then beaten by some South Africans at Oliven, Centurion on Monday (Nov. 13).

The report said the police came and took him away to his house for a search.

“The victim pleaded with the police to take him to the hospital for treatment but they refused.

“After searching his house without finding anything, he died as a result of the severe beating’’.

As usual, the Nigerian community in the area which expressed worry about the incidents, had vowed to take up the matter with “appropriate authorities’’, the source added.

Dabiri-Erewa, while reacting to the horrific murder of a Nigerian, Tochukwu Nnadi, by police in South Africa which has brought the number of Nigerians massacred in the country to 20 in 2016 alone, had described it as  “unacceptable to the people and government of Nigeria’’.

“The barbaric behaviour of the perpetrators is not only unacceptable, but also calls for urgent attention by diplomatic authorities in Nigeria and South Africa,” she said, reiterating President Muhammadu Buhari’s call to Nigerians to avoid crimes such as drug peddling which attracts stiff penalties, sometimes death.

Dabiri-Erewa urged the South African government to ensure that justice prevailed by carrying out investigation and bring the culprit to book.

NAN also reports that On Oct.11, Mr Jelili Omoyele, a 35-year-old cellular phone technician, was allegedly shot dead in Johannesburg while Olamilekan Badmus, a 25-year-old from Ogun, was also killed at Vaal Vreneging, near Johannesburg.

On the same day, a third Nigerian identified as Ifeanyi, a chicken seller, was accidentally shot in the head by the police.

On Oct. 15, Imo Gov. Rochas Okorocha unveiled a statue in honour of South African President Jacob Zuma, who witnessed the event.

Apart from the statue, a road was also named after  Zuma with a traditional title of Ochiagha Imo by Eze Imo, Samuel Ohiri, to crown the state honour bestowed on him

Rochas Okorocha About To Bestow Chieftaincy title on Liberian President And Unveils Her Statue Tomorrow

Governor Rochas Okorocha, of Imo state, Tuesday, announced the coming of the Liberian President, Mrs. Ellen Johnson Sirleaf, on Thursday, just as he said she will be conferred with a chieftaincy title and a road named after her in the state.

“On arrival on Thursday, Mrs. Sirleaf would be taken to the Palace of Eze Imo to be accorded the African way of receiving an august visitor like her and the Chairman of the State Council of Traditional Rulers, HRM Eze Samuel Ohiri will be expected to decorate her with a Chieftaincy title.

“Taking into account that she took over the leadership of Liberia soon after a bloody Civil War and she has been able to sustain the peace of that Country for ten years now. “The following day being Friday, November 10, 2017, Mrs. Sirleaf will then be at the Rochas Foundation College of Africa where she will meet with the Students and also specifically interact with the Liberian Students. “And all these will help to instill confidence in the students and brandish a juicy future for them. “After her outing to the College, the Liberian President will deliver a lecture to Imo women at Imo International Convention Centre ,IICC, and the topic will be women in politics. “And the lecture is structured to encourage women in the State to develop interest in leadership, especially when it is recalled that Mrs. Sirleaf is the first female President in Africa.”

Paradise Papares: FG to probe users of tax havens – Adeosun

The Federal Government is to investigate all Nigerian who have been linked to offshore accounts in some tax havens as leaked by Paradise Papers.

The Minister of Finance, Mrs Kemi Adeosun, disclosed on Tuesday that the government would be investigating high net-worth individuals and companies who frequent offshore tax havens.

While fielding questions at an interactive session with newsmen on the use of offshore jurisdictions with favourable tax laws, Adeosun said that the government would look into tax avoidance by Nigerians.

She said that with the increasing global focus on illicit financial flows and tax evasion, offshore tax shelters no longer offer robust protection against tax authorities. 

She added that the continued use of such schemes posed enormous risks for the users.

Reacting to leaks by Panana Papers and most recently, Paradise Papers, the Minister said that the leaks were just the beginning of what was likely to be a systematic unravelling of the offshore tax haven system.

According to her, the Federal Ministry of Finance’s data mining project would use data provided on Nigerians from such leaks to crosscheck tax declarations.

She therefore advised Nigerians to review any existing tax planning schemes, including those in offshore tax havens, in order to take advantage of the Voluntary Assets and Income Declaration Scheme (VAIDS) to regularise their tax status where necessary.

“The critical question to be asked of all Nigerian tax payers using offshore tax shelters will be whether all applicable taxes have been paid prior to the transfer of funds or assets to a tax shelter.

"If all taxes had been paid, then there will be no additional liability except tax payable on further income earned on those funds. However, if taxes had not been paid, then the use of such schemes is illegal,” she said.

Adeosun urged users of offshore tax shelters to promptly embrace the VAIDS scheme to regularise their tax status.

She said also that Nigeria’s low tax revenues were at variance with the lifestyles of a large number of its people and with the value of assets known to be owned by Nigerians resident around the world.

“VAIDS ushers in an opportunity to increase the nation’s general tax awareness and compliance. It is a time-limited opportunity for taxpayers to regularise their tax status relating to previous tax periods.

“In exchange for fully and honestly declaring previously undisclosed assets and income, taxpayers will benefit from forgiveness of overdue interest and penalties.

“They will also have further assurance that they will not face criminal prosecution for tax offences or be subject to tax investigations,” 

She urged Nigerians to cooperate with the Government by paying the right taxes to both the Federal and State Governments in order to provide the much needed funds that will improve the lives of Nigerians.

The Minister maintained that sanctions awaited defaulters who refuse the Federal Government’s offer of tax amnesty.

Adeosun added that those who failed to take advantage of VAIDS risked criminal prosecution and full payment of outstanding tax liabilities.

She said further that businesses, which untruthfully comply, would be liable as whatever was paid on the declared liabilities may be considered as part-payment of the outstanding sum later discovered by the authorities.

On impetuous defaulters who fail to utilise the VAIDS window, Adeosun said such offenders would face criminal prosecution by the Federal Government.

The Paradise Papers is collaborative investigative report by more than 380 journalists in 67 countries using leaked data obtained by German newspaper, Suddeutsche Zeitung, and the International Consortium of International Journalists (ICIJ).

The Data was obtained from two offshore secrecy providers; Appleby and Asiaciti Trust and 19 secrecy jurisdictions around the world.

The leaked 1.4 terabyte data, now dubbed Paradise Papers, contains 13.4 million records and is no doubt one of the biggest leaks in history.

The report identified more than 120 politicians and country leaders, in nearly 50 countries including Nigeria, as well as hundreds of business people across the world as users of offshore entities.

PRESIDENT ROBERT MUGABE RELIEVES VICE PRESIDENT FROM HIS POST

The Vice President of Zimbabwe,Emmerson Mnangagwa has been relieved of his post by the President of the country, for being disloyal.

Information Minister Simon Khaya Moyo says 75-year old Mnangagwa had displayed "traits of disloyalty" making it more likely that President Robert Mugabe's wife Grace will follow in her husband's footsteps as leader of Zimbabwe. She had earlier called on her husband to remove his vice-president.

"Mr Mnangagwa's conduct in discharge of his duties is inconsistent with the responsibilities," the information minister said.

Mr Mnangagwa, a former intelligence chief, had been a leading candidate to succeed President Mugabe. His sacking means Grace Mugabe is expected to be appointed vice-president at a special congress of the ruling Zanu-PF party next month.
